RECONNECT

Understanding and Addressing Loneliness Among Older Adults

The RECONNECT project aims to achieve a reduction in loneliness among older adults by supporting community-based educators with updated data, tools and knowledge needed to re-engage this vulnerable population. RECONNECT partners will begin this process by conducting a mapping exercise, which will produce a detailed understanding of how loneliness affects older adults. The subsequent development of a practical handbook will offer educators a valuable resource, complete with evidence-based activities designed to foster social connections among older adults. Through the piloting of these activities, RECONNECT partners hope to demonstrate the effectiveness of these interventions in real-world settings, gathering feedback that will refine and enhance the final handbook.
